Runescape

For those of you who are not familiar with Runescape, here is a quick summery:

Runescape is a massively online game that takes you from the castles of Lumbridge, to Edges of the wilderness. Train your character, and customize what you want him/her to look like. There are multiple things to do on Runescape, fight monsters, and grow levels and strength, or mine and make valuable objects, or cook culinary delights and join the cooking gild. Fish, smith, fight...there are so many things to do on Runescape, and doesn't leave you bored. Over 1,000,000 people play Runescape, and it is live. Players can buy things at shops, upgrade to cool armor, and can even fight each other and test there skills in the wilderness. You may talk to other players by typing on you keyboard and then pressing "ENTER". NOTE: For all you people who enjoy swearing, sorry but all bad words are bleeped out by ****. And if you do that a lot, people will report you, so I don't recommend it.

I have made many friends on Runescape, and I have a great time with them, however, never say where you live exactly, only tell the country and east/west side you might be on. No phone numbers either. It might tempting, but It is not a good idea. Some things that are okay to do with friends is go to the wild, fight together (Or against each other) and make deals to make money as a team! So, make friends, train all sorts of levels, ad earn money! Hope you will try Runescape, (If you have not already) and play fairly!

Tricks that make you   !

Here is a little secret to make money...I have used it to get 20K in not too long. First, you will probably need about 1.56k, not a lot to start (1560 coins). First to get this money, fight enemy's, or make friends with nice guys (like me) who might give you some money (KEYWORD: MIGHT!). once you have this amount, clear your inventory, except your money, and a beginners map is good too. Then, once everything is out of your inventory besides money and map, take a walk. On your beginner map, head to port Saridahm and once you get there, pay 30 coins to board. you will be taken to the Island of Karajama. Now Karajama has a lot to offer, but you must visit it sometime else when your not getting money. once you’re at Karajama, go to the first shop you see. (Stay away from the banana jungles for now) once you enter the shop, buy cooked lobsters. DO NOT BUY RAW LOBSTERS! cooked lobsters will be named "Lobsters" and raw ones will be named "Raw Lobsters". If the shop has no lobsters, switch worlds. Repeat process until you find a shop that does. Spend ALL your money on cooked lobs. and remember, the more of the Item, the less expensive it gets. You will probably find there about 100-200-gp each. once you have bought all you can, either transport to Lumbridge, or pay fare to voyage back to port saridahm. Then, head your way up to Varrock. It's a long walk, but with beginners map in hand, (unless you know the way like I do) you are invincible. You may want to switch to a busier world, for more people means more sales. however, do not go to one REALLY busy, because it becomes too hectic. Sell your lobsters and say, "Selling cooked lobs" Sell them for about 200-300 ea. The lower the price you sell them for, the more sales you make, but the heir, the more profit you make. I once tripled my money by doing this. Make deals to your friends that you will buy them for 200ea, then you can sell them for 300 somewhere else. Also, some people are willing to sell them for eve cheaper or even for free at Karajama docks, Because they are fishing there and can get all they want (need to be a level 40 for fishing, and a level 40 for cooked them). I once got 20 lobs for free and sold them for 250gp each. That was a pure profit! I encourage you to try this, for it is very profitable. do it over and over and you will be rich in no time! (of course, having a time limit kinda ruins it for me...and some of my friends...) Well, good luck!

RuneScape Scams

Be mindful that there are many cheap people in RuneScape, and there is nothing we can do to change that. However, hopefully this will help you avoid those scams. Here are some of the most common:

Item Scamming

1. if you are selling some lobsters, and let us say you have only 30 of them, and someone wants to trade with you. You gladly see how much money he/she is willing to give you for that amount of lobsters. You put up your 30 lobsters on the Item window, and then you see 30K that the other person has put up. You think, "Wow what a great deal!" You accept and then for some reason you must accept again. Finally, you trade. You are very happy that you got 30k! But painfully you look again at the money in your inventory and realize you only have 3K! What happened? Well, while you accepted, the scammer took 27k out as quickly as he/she could and accepted. 3K looks a lot like 30K if you only look at it quickly. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. So be very cautious around really good deals.

2. Another way of doing this is when you have 50 lobsters instead on the trade box window, and the other person puts up 30k, you will accept but then he adds Mith Plate legs. You think, oh, cool! That was nice of him. So than you accept as does he, and you realize you only have 3K and Mith Plate Legs in your inventory. What happened? Well, while you were looking at the Mith Plate legs, he took away 27K so you didn't notice. So watch out! Be cautious.

Team Item scamming

1. Team item scamming is not uncommon in RuneScape. Here is an example. You are very excited because you have just made your first 10K ever in RuneScape-all the money you have so far. You are happy, but wish there was a faster way to get it. You are in Varrock Town Square and you see someone saying "buying ring for 10K". You think, "man...I could really use that money. I sure wish I had a ring." Then a few blocks later, you see someone else saying "selling ring for 5K". Then you think, "Hey...if I buy that for 5K, I could just sell it for 10K, and get a 5K profit!" You quickly buy it, and although you have just spent half you money, and you know the ring is only worth 2K, you hurry to the first person who wanted it for 10K and he is either gone or wishes not to buy it anymore. What happened? Those two people planned to rip you off and are now splitting your 5K. You now have a 2K ring, and only 5K. They have ripped you off! Also, watch out for this.

Banning scamming/ Jagex Impersonation/ account buying scamming

 1. These scams are all related in terms of two or more accounts. Now more than one account isn't bad itself, but it could be used to do a lot of bad things. Here is the "Banning scam". Out of nowhere, someone named "Jagexbanner" starts to talk with you with private chat. You do not know where he is, but he says, "Hello, are you there?". You are very concerned and you add him to your friends list in order to talk to him further. You say, "Yes." He then replies, "We have heard you have been Item scamming. We are now forced to ban you." you reply, "Please, no! I have not done such a thing!" they say, "how can I believe you". Then, quickly adds, "oh wait. I know how this can be proved, sir. If you tell me your password I can find out if you did or not." You are relieved; you might not be banned after all! You quickly tell him your password, and then he says, "Ah, good. Now, I need to know your bank pin, this will prove if you item scammed or not." You tell him you pin. Then he says "Ah yes. You have not item scammed, we shall report the one who has said you did." You are very relieved and say "thank you so much!" And you never hear from him again because he logs out. Then, when you are finally done with RuneScape for the day, you log out. The next day when you feel like playing RuneScape, you log in. You look at your inventory and you find it completely empty! It was filled with lobsters, gold ore, and all your armor is gone too! You quickly look at your bank and everything is gone! What happened? The "Jagexbanner" who had been talking to you had not been a member of Jagex, and had tricked you and had got a hold of your account and stolen everything. Never give anyone your password in RuneScape ever! Jagex staff hardly ever play RuneScape and even if they did, they wouldn't go around saying "I'm part of Jagex staff" or having a name with the word "Jagex" included. Watch out! don't let anyone trick you! This almost happened to me, I was really tired and was stupid enough to tell him my password. But as he was asking for my bank pin I got suspicious and quickly but all of my valuables in my bank (For he didn't know my bank pin) and logged out. I tried to log in and it said "invalid user name or password". I knew it. Luckily, (as I planned) I had also set recovery passwords. So I put my recovery passwords in and changed my password and logged in and found all of my bank items, including my Addment Armor, safe and sound. Don't do anything stupid like telling you password like I did ever! Remember that, always.

2. Account buying. Yes, many people do it. It is not right, and is against the RuneScape rules. So, you are very successful, and you have been doing the lobster business for a long time, and have 100K. You have full Rune, and are feeling great. Then, when you are selling some more lobsters, someone at only level 3 says, "hey, come upstairs". You fallow him up the stairs of the Varrock bank. He then asks you if he can buy your account for 1 million gp. You ask him how this would be done, and he says, "Make a new account, add me in that account and Tell me your password and user name of your new account. Then tell me the password and user name of your old account [the account with the 100K]. Then I will give you 1 million gp." This sound like a good idea. After all, you do have somewhat high levels and a good amount of money, but with so much more money, you could buy a lot more and the levels would take sometime, but you could always just get to where you were before, so you agree. I will not continue, but I will tell you this. What he is planning to do is take your account, and plus since you gave him your old account's password  and your new account's password, he will just take the money and steal both of your accounts. But also, even if you say, "no I’m sorry I will not give you my account" and report him, SO WHAT. Think about it. This person is a level 3 remember, and he probably has a different account but he has this one to do all the dirty work for his really high level, millionaire other account. So if you report his level 3 account, SO WHAT. He'll just make a new one. Remember this as well. And don't get carried away.

3. Jagex Staff impersonation. Happens a lot in RuneScape. Remember, like I told you in my Ban Scamming article, people try to give the impression that they are Jagex Staff. For mainly none other reason but this...to get what they want; and unfairly. They will either try and say that "hey tell me your password and bank Pin I can double your items by a bug in the game only Jagex knows about." or he will say you can double the amount of money you have by dropping it and pressing alt+F4. This closes your browser and logs you out and he will get all the money you had.

These scams are real, and I have witnessed more than 3. Remember not to be subject to one of these scams. Good luck scam dodging!
