untitled
TIP: Use a lot of non-smash attacks and build up to smash attacks or a really strong B attack. Dodge a lot and R roll a lot, too.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

This exiting new game if for the Nintendo Wii, and is the sequel to Super Smash Bros. Melee, which is the sequel to Super Smash Bros. Unfortunately, this game is made without some original characters, like Mewtwo and Ness will be no longer available. This exciting new game will have 5 exclusive new characters: Meta Knight (From Kirby games), and Pit (the angel archer from a classic NES series), Zero Suit Samus (From Metroid games), Wario (from many Mario games), and Solid Snake (Metal Gear). With the Wii remote, fighting will take a whole new meaning in the Super Smash Bros. series. It will be released soon!

Please look lower and you'll find character bios. If there isn't on that is on your favorite character, read "advice for any character". Then, post on the blog (message board) what character you would like. Until then, just use this. I have not included grabbing, for I believe it is one of the cheapest ways of fighting. Also, grabbing doesn’t really vary among characters. Use grabbing at anytime you want.

Advice for any character

Think about this with using any character:

1.     What is this characters type? Defensive, Offensive, All-around, Fast, powerful, agile, light, etc.

2.     What moves are you comfortable with? Find out why and then find other similar moves that will enhance your skills.

3.     What moves are you not comfortable with? Find out why and then find out ways to make them work for you. If completely unable to work for you, do not use them as best you can.

4.     What moves in your opinion are good, but not necessarily comfortable to you? If you think R rolling is a good move and necessary, but you don’t know where to use it? Go against a level 2 character, and use mainly that move, and see how it benefits you. Also, when dodging and R rolling, it is more effective on humans than CPU.

5.     Dodging. Do you like it or not? Do you wish you had that skill of to know when to do it? Also, try going against a level 2 character and try dodging attacks. Also with R rolling, it is more effective on humans than CPU.

6.     How does this character apply to you? Are you the type who likes to knock people with pure power? Or maybe you like out whiting people with fancy moves? Find the character that is most like you.

7.     What character is your character's weakness? Why? Try to find the characters that are good and bad against your character. Find out why, and try to find moves that make it easier to defeat your characters weakness if possible.

8.     What do you like most about your character? Find out what it is, whether it is a move, a jump, or a dodge. Then, if you can try to come up with at least 4 reasons that you think this is your best character.

9.     Fight against humans, whether it be you father, mother, sister, brother, or friend. This will improve your skills much more than you think...CPU are not the best trainers. When battling a human, you will defiantly dodge more and R roll more if you try. Try playing "tag" with your human companion. He/she will be "it", and will try to hit you. Try your best to dodge, and R roll away. Use jumping, R rolling, dodging, and running to get away, and don't use attacks. Also, turn items off.

10.  Try to get all the experience you can. If you are at Game Stop or Fred Meyer, and you see someone playing the demo Super Smash Bros. Melee, ask if you can join in. This will benefit you a lot.

I have not included grabbing, for I believe it is one of the cheapest ways of fighting. Also, grabbing doesn’t really vary among characters. Use grabbing at anytime you want.

Advice for Link

1.     Use combos smash A and smash A again right in a row. You will do a double sword swipe that is very effective (especially when you have missed your foe on the first strike).

2.     Use smash A and down if enemies are right or left of you on the ground. This is a very effective move to clear enemies out of the way.

3.     When attempting to knock someone into the air, use non-smash A up several times, and then finish with a smash A up attack (Maybe even a B and up attack).

4.     If someone is distance from you, do not attempt to run up to them and use run A attack, because that is a very stall-ish, weak move that many people use. Instead, use your bombs, arrows, or boomerang. If slightly up of you, use bombs or boomerang (Remember if you do a direction while pressing B and side, it will go that direction. Example: B+SIDE+UP). If directly in front, use your arrows and boomerang.

5.     Dodging is of little advantage with Link; however, I tend to dodge a lot no matter who I am.

6.     BOTTOM LINE: If you want to knock you opponent, use smash attacks or build up to a smash attack with non-smash attacks. If you want to knock someone far, do not use bombs, arrows, or your boomerang. IF YOU WANT SOMONE FASTER, TRY YOUNG LINK! However, Young Link is weaker and not as offensive.

Advice for Mewtwo

1.              Try to confuse your opponent, using B up, B down, B side, Z rolling and dodging. This is a good tactic for Mewtwo because he is not so much offensive as much as “Tactful”.

2.              Mewtwo is also very powerful, so do not under look that characteristic. Use smash A side, smash A down, and smash A up for powerful blows. I also find that his slash attack (A side in the air) is very powerful and useful.

3.              If you want defense, use dodging, R/L rolling, B side, B down, non-smash A up, and A in the air. This will not put much damage on but will protect you the most. Avoid using B and up for run-always, that is not a good system. Also, remember Mewtwo is not fast, so do not try to outrun anyone for items, just out smart them. A great move for that is B and side because that will send them sprawling in the air for a bit, giving you the opportunity to snatch that Poke-ball or Star-man.

4.              BOTTOM LINE: Mewtwo is very hard to get used to, but when you do get used to him, he will be one of your most powerful characters. Use dodging, R rolling, and play more of a defensive roll in fighting.

Advice for Mario

1.                           Mario is a very offensive character but has a very powerful defense: B side (CAPE). To start the fight, use smash A side, smash A up, smash A down, A side in the air.

2.                          If wanting to knock the opponent off the screen, use: smash A up (or build up to smash A up with some non-smash A ups), smash A side, smash A down, A side in the air, and B down.

3.                           If you like tampering with your enemies (Making them build damage slowly and making them mad) use A rapid-punching, B and side, dodge, R/L rolling, B (FIRE BALL), non-smash A up, non-smash A up in the air, and non-smash A down. These will build lots of damage up and will be used to use the finishing smash attack in the end.

4.                          Mario is mainly a offensive type, but has a great defensive type as well. One of his best moves is his cape, B and side. Using it, you can deflect Items back at the thrower, and at contact turn the opponent completely around, and make there move go the opposite direction; missing you! For defense, use a lot of B and side, R rolling, dodging, and even some fire balls to keep enemies off you.

5.                          BOTTOM LINE: Use a lot of non-smash attacks in the beginning, and slowly build up to smash attacks. That will keep you alive.

Advice for Falco

1.  Falco is a sort of an all-around character. He is pretty agile, and is a very high jumper. Try using dodging R rolling a lot for him. His Shield (B down) is very defensive, while moves like his blaster (B) and kick (smash A side) are very aggressive.

2.  If you want to knock your foe off the screen I suggest using smash A side, smash A up, smash A down, B up and B side. Use B sometimes to hit them from a distance. Also, if you want a good combo, try using non-smash A up, then build up to a smash A up. If your foe is not off the screen already, try A up in the air.

3.  For defense, use B down, dodge and use R/L rolling. Falco is very good at this and though it may seem his offense over rules his defense, he is very good at defense. Use Falco as a quick hitter, fast dodger, and high jumper.

4.  BEST MOVE: I would say Falco’s best move is his B side. However, many people get carried away with that move and use it too much, which usually results in a KO for Falco one way or another. Remember, if you might start to get carried away with that move, and you find yourself using it too much, press B side, and press B rapidly. This will stop the move. This cancellation is also a good “trick” or “fake”. Using this will give your foe the impression of using your B and side all the way, giving you the opportunity to strike.

5.  BOTTOM LINE: Again, Falco is an all-range character, so bring that characteristic out. Try using multiple tactics, and keep your foe on edge. Use more cunning than strength (however Falco is very powerful), and stay on your toes ready to strike!

Advice for Sheik

1.  Sheik is a very slick, quick, and stealth-like character. She has a variation of moves, including kicks, punches, and a bunch of cool gadgets. Sheik can be many different styles that will work for her. You can be defense, offense, and all-around.

2.  For offense, use smash A down, smash A up, smash A side (or you can build up to it with many non-smash A sides, and then use a final smash A side or smash A up), and A side (front) in the air.

3.  For defense, use B and B side to keep them off of you, use R/L rolling and dodging, non-smash A side, non-smash A up, and if you aim right you can use your B and up.

4.  TIPS: To charge all needles, hold down B and then press R or L. If you want to hold chain out for a long time, press B side and hold B and move the chain with the joystick. For B up (vanish), try to aim precisely to hit the opponent. Otherwise, this is a very stall-ish move. So remember to use this move wisely…or it could turn out to be a KO for Sheik. B and down will change Zelda into Sheik. But if you want to start the match with being Sheik in the beginning, hold down A when it is loading the place/course. You will be Sheik in the beginning.

5.  BOTTOM LINE: Sheik can be a lot of things. She may work for a lot of people. Also, Sheik is a two-person character. I think more people like Sheik better than Zelda. Remember, Sheik is not a very high jumper, so use more ground moves than aerial moves.

HI, everyone. I have studied with Sheik for a long time, and I have found out all of these things:
1.Hold down A at the beginning of a match to be Sheik from the start Instead of Zelda.
2. She is my best character In super smash bros. melee.
3. Combo Class 1C: run back and forth using her running A move going across and across, and when your opponent has a lot of damage, use the smash A+UP move, and time it so when your opponent falls toward you, release you smash A+UP when the touch your hands for it's supreme effect.
4. Combo Class 2A: Use non-smash A+UP to put damage, and when your opponent tries to strike, do an R roll and hit them when they are not ready. These are the alternatives: If they are above you, dodge and do a smash A+DOWN move. If the are to the left or right of you, do Smash A+Side in there direction. If they are "in" you or at a point of which you cannot hit them immediately, dodge or do B+Side and defend yourself until you know what to do next.
5. Combo Class 1A: non-smash A+UP a lot, R roll back wards, smash A+SIDE to knock them, run up to them and do run A move, while in the air perform a Smash A+UP move to finish your opponent off.

Of course, Since I have studied Sheik for a long time now, I have more things but if I put all of them it would just be a FAQ so this is just a bit.

Sheik vs. Swords

Here is a good way:
1. Doge a lot. Quick Sword attacks will miss and give you time to strike.
2. Use your B+SIDE a bit to keep them swordies of 'ya. They will be frustrated and try a very offensive move, just dodge and they will be venerable.
BOTTOM LINE: When it's Sheik VS Sword, Remember to dodge, and do a lot of "Sneaky moves" moves that put on damage, but aren't laggish and stall-ish. Quick easy moves, long enough so that they can't hit you.
I hope I was of service to you. =)

Sheik Killers

I have tested myself with Sheik for training, and I have found the most difficult enemy because of weak spots was probably Fox, (Because he is really fast) probably the fast, slick, characters who would kind of put Sheik against he own game. Big, bulky characters like Bowser, Ganondorf, and, Captain Falcon even though he isn't the slowest, he has a lot of, "Stall-ish" moves which make him venerable to quick hits. BOTTOM LINE: Probably, Fox, Falco, Donkey Kong (surprisingly), and that's about it.

       Advice for Ganondorf

1. This is a very offensive character, and has almost no means of defense except when dodging or R rolling. His character is brute strength, and he IS somewhat slow.

2. If you want to knock your opponent off the screen, use: B, B side, B down, smash A side, smash A up, non-smash A up, and A side in the air. Most of his moves are in fact flying-off-of-the-screen, but these are the highlights.

3. There are few moves that you can use cunning for instead of brawn. However, try dodging, R rolling, smash A down, and non-smash A down.

4.BOTTOM LINE: Timing is the key. If your foe is falling in your direction, then prepare a B punch or a non-smash A up foot slam. Also, B down and B side are quick, powerful moves that are ranged farther and easier to use. There is not much to be said about Ganondorf, but that does not mean he is the worst character. He is dependently one of the best.

Advice for Marth

1. Marth is a very offense character. He uses only his sword, and occasionally his feet (when kicking). His B moves are mostly not stall-ish. He has great A moves too.

2. If you want to knock your foe across the screen I recommend: B charge, B side 4-in-a-row combo, smash A side, non-smash A side, and non-smash A side. You cannot really build up to smash attacks with Marth like you can for Mario, because they are all so powerful. Despite all slowness, try to roll a lot and be very active because you can do a lot with Marth if you want to attack at a unsuspecting time.

3. Like I said Marth is a very offensive character, but he has a very big defense. Probably one of the most best defenses of all...his B and down. This is an incredible move. If your foe tries to hit you, use your B and down and his hit will back fire and you'll blow him a powerful blow; almost unavoidable. If you want a defensive Marth, use B and down, but a nice amount of dodging and R rolling (I think you knew I was going to say that), because his B and down can be stall-ish if it doesn't actually work. Remember to be a quick Marth, as quick as possible especially when being defensive.

4. BEST MOVE EVER: B side. Marths' B side is unstoppable. You can do it many times over and in a different way. The most combo is four. So basically your doing: B side, B side, B side, and B side again. But, this doesn't only build up to a stronger attack, you can do it differently too. If your foe is slightly higher from you, you could try: B side, B side, B side, and B up-side. A lot of people have trouble with this, because they do not know the secret. Well, here it is: Press B at the same "tempo" each time. Do for example: B, B, B, B, Not B, B,B,    B, This is actually really easy when you get used to it. If you don't understand use a metronome. This will help you press the B button at the same speed. That is the only way to do that great combo. There are countless combos! B side, B down-side, B up-side, and B side. Try any of these for different outcomes. This is probably THE best move ever...if you can use it right.

5. Projectiles. A very big problem occurs when Marth is dealing with projectiles. This is probably his one weakness, but this is the way I figure it: Mario or Dr. Mario, just press A rapidly. This will block all pills or fire balls for sure. The tricky ones are...Fox and Falco. Mainly just try to avoid them, use your B down and R/L Shield, dodge, and R/L roll away as best you can. For Ness, usually most of his moves are stall-ish when it comes to projectiles, just block it with your B down, or if possible Shield. For Link and Young Link, for bombs try to use B and down, Arrows use B and down or Shield, and for boomerang use B and down. Link's and Young Link's projectiles are very non-repetitive. They are very spaced out as apposed to Fox and Falco's blasters. Just mainly use B down, and try to evade.

6. BOTTOM LINE: Marth is a very good character, and is a quickly-likable one too. He may seem boring at first, but keep trying. I am sure you will eventually start to warm up to him. He does not have much weaknesses, but remember to always be on your feet. Then you will be INVINCABLE!
